  • Statement Regarding the Use of AI Programs
  • Many assignments require writing, research, and/or sharing your ideas. The vast amount of information available online means that it can be hard to distinguish accurate from inaccurate sources. Websites are not always credible and sometimes reflect a biased viewpoint intended to sway the reader’s opinion. Similarly, AI tools (such as ChatGPT) may spread misinformation and falsehoods. When you do outside research, be sure to use reputable sources, such as peer-reviewed journal articles, government websites, or credible news articles. All outside sources must be properly cited in APA or MLA format.
  • Importantly, always share what you learn in your own words, in a way that makes sense to you and in a way that is relevant to the assignment. The use of AI to write your posts is considered plagiarism because it is not your original writing. Plagiarism-detecting software (TurnItIn) and AI-detecting software (OpenAI Detector) may be used to analyze your submissions for originality. Any evidence of plagiarism will result in a zero on the assignment and possible further disciplinary action.
